This baptismal gown was used by several Basque families living in Barber, Idaho, in the early 1900s. Most of these Basque children were baptised at St. John's Cathedral in Boise, Idaho. The gown belonged to Anastacio and Gregoria Gorrono Arrizabalaga (Ernest Arrizabala), and their children were baptised in it - Agustin in 1916, Marie in 1918, Luis in 1923 and Henry in 1926. Unfortunately there are no records of how many and who used this gown but it was common in those days to pass these garments around for use on special occasions; especially with the Basque families living in Barber as they were a very close knit community.
