Sepia toned albumen print of Sarah Ann Derbyshire Palmer, mother of Mary Ellen Palmer Jacobs. The oval portrait is in an oval frame of medium-dark wood with clear glass. A sticker on the back of the frame is from "Marshall Field & Company," a department store chain in Chicago, Illinois. "Palmer" is written in black ink. "Rounsevelle" is written in pencil. This seems to indicate that Mary "Mamie" Jacobs Shankland Rounsevelle had this picture framed during the time she lived in Chicago. A second piece of paper taped to the back reads "Sarah Ann Derbyshire Palmer 1815-1891." Same image as 2004.028.037 Two eye hooks hold a piece of copper wire on the back for hanging.
