Chacartegui, Juan "Tacolo"

1949- Tacolo as Lola Falana during the Song of the Basque. 

Juan Chacartegui, better known as Tacolo, was born on May 16, 1899 in Lekeito, Bizkaia. He came to Mountain Home in 1920 to join his family in the sheep business. He later became a partner in the Bouquet Bar in Mtn. Home and retired in 1965.

Tacolo was well-known for his sense of humor and was a great entertainer. Whether dressed as Lola Falana during the 1949 Music Week production of Song of the Basque, a cameo appearance in Walt Disney’s "Greta the Misfit Greyhound", or playing pandereta to accompany a local musician, Tacolo enjoyed life and was noted for his fun- loving disposition.  Tacolo died on May 28, 1986 in Mtn. Home, Idaho.
