Eduardo (Edu), Sarria

Edu is a Boise-born, first generation Basque-American. One of the many traits his parents handed down to him was the love of music. Music has played an important role in his life and he has very fond memories of hearing it in his home as he grew up.  At the ripe old age of two, he recalls the fun he had being part of his father's choir, "Anaiak Danok". Although he was too young to speak, the melody of the music stayed with him and he was able to absorb it.  At age seven he began piano lessons and beginning in 1981 he started playing clarinet in junior high and high school.

Edu started playing saxophone in 1984 and later took txistu lessons from Cathy Clarkson. He was a principal musician for the Oinkari Basque Dancers from 1985 until 2007.  Edu began playing with the band "Ordago" when it was formed in 1986  and plays saxophone, keyboards, and also does vocals. Edu continues to play for the Onati Corpus Dantzariak at the annual San Inazio Festival and at other special occasions, including weddings and funerals. In all he has mastered the piano, clarinet, saxophone and the traditional txistu/tambolin.
