Johnny Arregui, Alto saxophone. He was a self-taught musician playing the alto, tenor and soprano saxophones and piano and accordion by ear. His first band was a Basque orchestra between 1932 and 1937 with Victor Arego and the Anduiza brothers playing for Sheepherder Balls and various community benefits1.  He began playing with Jim Jausoro in the late 1940s for various Basque dances. He played with the Jim Jausoro Orchestra from its inception until 1975. Johnny died of brain cancer on November 25, 1976.  Over the years he also played with the Dick Grove Orchestra, Dan Black Trio and Ralph Fry Orchestra. Music was an integral part of his life.

His beautiful harmonies heard on this recording were his trademark, and he and his music are well-remembered among the Basque and many non-Basque of the Boise area.
