Josi Barinaga Williams

Josi Barinaga  Williams playing in the Basque Museum for Boiseko Gasteak

Josi was very active in the Basque community in Boise, Idaho. She apprenticed under Jim Jausoro, master accordionist, in the Traditional Folk Arts Apprenticeship Program through the Idaho Commission on the Arts.  She then took what she learned and began sharing with others in the community by playing, as a volunteer musician, for the young Basque dancing group, Boiseko Gasteak.  She also donated many hours giving instruction to a young person who was interested in learning to play the piano accordion.

Josi was involved with Basque dancing since she was very young and also actively participated with the Oinkari Basque Dancers.  She traveled and performed extensively with the Oinkaris over many years.
