Eva Mendieta is a native of Bilbao. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Hispanic Philology (Universidad Complutense de Madrid) and a PhD in Hispanic Linguistics (University at Albany-SUNY). She is Professor of Spanish in the Department of Modern Languages at Indiana University Northwest. Her published research addresses Sociolinguistics aspects of languages in contact in regards to the Spanish spoken in the Basque Country and the United States. She is currently conducting research on the life and culture of women in the Basque Country and Spain in the Modern Era.
