Cyrus Jacobs/Uberuaga House

The Jacobs family home began being used as a Basque boardinghouse in 1910 and functioned in that capacity until 1969. First rented by the Galdos, Bicandi, and Uberuaga families, it was finally purchased by the Uberuagas in 1928 for the sum of $2,000.

Resources

Boiseko Ikastola Preschool

Boiseko Ikastola features a unique curriculum that focuses on language acquisition and the development of reading, writing and math skills. Designed for both Basque and non-Basque children, all classes are taught in the Basque language, which the young students learn easily.

Learn

In June of 2005, the Department of Education conducted an education mission to the Basque Country. The purpose of the mission was to acquaint the delegation of Idaho teachers with the culture and history of the Basque Country and to reinforce the linkages that continue to connect families and communities in the Basque Country to the State of Idaho.

Language Classes

The Basque Museum & Cultural Center offers classes in Euskara, the Basque language.
